Condors in the Community: Huge crowd on Teddy Bear Toss Night brings in 6,271 stuffed animals

Today!

Lucky Teddy Bear Toss goal scorer Scott Freeman woke up bright and early to join Baby Cal at the Society for Disabled Children where United Way of Kern County volunteers counted the Teddy Bears and stuffed animals collected after Scott’s goal on Saturday.  All told, Condorstown threw 6,271 Teddy Bears onto the ice. The bears have now been donated to over 50 local charities and youth service organizations.  Rabobank Arena was rocking Saturday night as 8,776 fans packed in to “watch the fur fly!”

With this year’s totals, 73,111 teddy bears have been donated by Condors fans over 13 seasons; an average of 5,624 each year!

Tuesday Nov. 29:

Baby Cal and Condors staff will congratulate the students at Colonel Nichols Elementary School, during their lunch period from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m, for achieving their fundraising sales goal of over 200 tickets. Wednesday Nov. 30:

Members of the team including the coaches will be participating in a charity poker tournament to be held at the Aviator Casino in Delano at 7 p.m. Confirmed Condors include Mathew Sisca and Keith Wynn along with the coaches! The Aviator Casino is located at 1225 Airport Drive in Delano. Thursday Dec. 1:

The calendar turns to December and the Condors stay busy by participating in the American Lung Association’s Poinsettia Delivery Day from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at 705 S Union Ave. Two Condors players will head to the warehouse to load the trucks up for delivery while two of their teammates will ride along and present the flowers to various local businesses and organizations.

Later that night, the trio of Condors mascots – Colonel Claw’d, Baby Cal, and Slapshot – will ride along in the 29th Annual Bakersfield Christmas parade held downtown from 6-8 p.m. Come get in the holiday spirit and check out the mascots as they go rolling by.

Friday Dec. 2:

The Condors host the Alaska Aces at 7 p.m. on Bobblehead T-Shirt giveaway night presented by Bright House Networks, Kelly 95.3 and Gotta Go Bail Bonds. The first 2,000 fans 12 and under will receive a bobblehead t-shirt at the game. Bright House Networks subscribers can receive $7 terrace level admission by presenting their cable bill at the box office. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday Dec. 3:
Bakersfield matches up with the Aces for the second night in a row at 7 p.m. as Captain America makes his appearance in Condorstown courtesy of The Groove 99.3 FM and Diamond Technologies.The game is also a ABC 23, SC Architect, and Kern County Firefighters Condors Classroom Champions Night where students who achieved outstanding classroom attendance will receive tickets to the game. After the game, lace up your skates in a post-game skate with Condors players. Limited skate rentals are available for $5. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Movember is coming to an end…Last Chance to Donate!

The Condors mustaches will come off this week after raising money through donations for men’s health awareness during the month of November. There is still time left to donate to the Condors by visiting the team page on www.movember.com. To date, the Condors have raised $480.00 as a team with Hans Benson’s $100.00 total as the most so far.
