Condors Collect Nearly 2,200 Coats; 10 Year Total Tops 18,000 Coats

Condors Total Attendance Ranks Number 1 in League

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield community once again answered the call to assist the less fortunate through the upcoming cold season. Project Warm Families Coat Collection, sponsored by KGET TV-17, 96-5 KBKO and Barber Honda, resulted in the donation of nearly 2,200 coats, topping last years 1,400. The coat collection was held Wednesday Oct. 24 outside Rabobank Arena before the Condors game against Alaska.

With the 2,200 coats collected this year the grand total, which spans the Condors 10 year history, grew to more than 18,000 coats. Junior Achievement distributed the coats to seven different agencies that in-turn will donate the coats to needy families and individuals.

"This year's coat drive was a great success thanks to our wonderful community and the Condors," said Junior Achievement President Tim Hackett. "The youth in our community know that a lot of people believe in them and are willing to give on their behalf."

"Project Warm Families Coat Collection exceeded all expectations this year," said Condors President Matthew Riley. "Though no one should be surprised, we know how loyal and generous Condors fans are and we are very pleased with the outcome."

Loyal Condors fans flocking to The Nest to see their team in action thus far this year have vaulted the Condors to the top spot in the league in total attendance with 17,379. The Condors who expect to hit the 2 million fan mark later this year, now boast a 10 year attendance of 1,873,885.

This weekend the Condors will hit the road playing in Phoenix on Friday, Oct. 26 and in Fresno Saturday, Oct. 27, but fans can still catch the action live on KGEO AM1230. The games can also be seen online through B2 Networks, accessible via www.bakersfieldcondors.com.
