Bakersfield To Start Regular Season At Home Friday With Magnetic Schedule Giveaway

BAKERSFIELD
, Calif.
- The Condors fell to the Las Vegas Wranglers by the score of 4-3 in the preseason finale Saturday night, before 4,718 at Rabobank Arena. That's the largest preseason crowd in Condors history, surpassing last year's mark of 4,236. Bakersfield gets set to officially open its 10th Anniversary Season Friday against the Stockton Thunder.

The Condors fell behind early as Las Vegas jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first period. Forward Bruce Mulherin netted the Wranglers first goal against goalie Jamie Hodson just 2:30 into the game.

The Condors continued to struggle, particularly with penalties, and allowed Tyler Mosienko to score a power-play goal at 8:25, putting Las Vegas up 2-0 despite a solid penalty kill attempt. The Wranglers capitalized on another power play with just 12 seconds remaining in the first with Mulherin's second goal of the game.

The Condors settled down in the second period, and were able to trim the deficit to two goals as forward Spencer Carbery scored a breakaway goal, assisted by forwards Brett Lutes and Eric Sonnenberg at the 17:51 mark. Carbery unloaded a snap shot from the right- wing circle, and beat Las Vegas goalie Jan Muenster for the score. It was Carbery's second goal of the preseason.

With rookie Tim Boron in net, the Condors came out in the third period and continued to chip away at the Las Vegas lead, as defenseman Tamas Lencses' redirected shot beat Muenster at 7:55.

After Las Vegas stretched the score to 4-2 with a Josh Sciba goal at 13:18, the Condors came right back as Tyler Noye snuck a wrist shot from just inside the blue line past Muenster, making the score 4-3 with 6:42 remaining. The Condors came up just short of tying the game despite a three man advantage with Boron pulled for the last 39 seconds, and ended up dropping the contest to Las Vegas 4-3.
