Bennett returns as Condors add five

CONDORSTOWN, Calif.– The Bakersfield Condors, owned by the Edmonton Oilers, added five players for the upcoming 2014-15 season. LW Spencer Bennett is the lone returner of the group, after playing 37 games in Condorstown last season. Joining him are LW Jonathan LessardF Dan DeLisleC Sébastien Sylvestre, and F Jordan Lane. Their addition brings the team’s training camp roster to 18 players.

BENNETT – stats; 23 years old, 6’3″, 190 lbs. White Rock, British Columbia
  • Played 37 games with Bakersfield in 2013-14 with 22 points (5g-17a) including a three-point(2g-1a) night on Dec. 12, 2013 against Utah
  • Appeared in five playoff games as the Condors advanced to the Western Conference Finals
  • Entering his fourth pro season having played in the American Hockey League (AHL) with Portland and Abbotsford, and the ECHL with Gwinnett, Orlando, Alaska, and Bakersfield
  • Drafted in 5th round (#141 overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames
“Spencer is a speedy winger who did a lot of good things last season,” Condors Head Coach J.F. Houle said. “He’s a great skater, has offensive potential, and a perfect team guy.”
LESSARD  “leh-SARD”- stats; 23 years old, 6’0″, 175 lbs., St-Eustache, Quebec
  • Led the Allen Americans of the Central Hockey League (CHL) in goals scored with 28 andwas second in scoring with 57 points (28g-29a) in 62 games
  • Won a 2014 Presidents’ Cup championship with Allen and had 15 points (9g-6a) in 17 playoff games
  • Played 33 games in the ECHL in 2012-13 split between San Francisco and Utah
  • Spent four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with Acadie-Bathurst and Baie-Comeau where he compiled an impressive 115 goals and 85 assists for 200 points in 254 games
  • Led Acadie-Bathurst in goals scored in consecutive seasons with 36 and 37 in 2009-10 and 2010-11 respectively
“Jonathan is a fast winger with scoring ability,” Houle said. “He has a lot of grit to his game and plays extremely hard every night.”
DELISLE “de-LIE-ull”- stats; 24 years old, 6’5″, 229 lbs, Minneapolis, Minnesota
  • Turned pro last season and played 22 games with the Idaho Steelheads with one goal andthree assists for four points
  • Played four seasons at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and won an NCAA title with the Bulldogs in 2011
  • Named to the WCHA All-Academic Team in 2011
  • Drafted in the third round (#89 overall) of the 2009 draft by the Chicago Blackhawks
“Dan has great size and is a physical forward,” Houle said. “We’re looking forward to seeing him in camp.”
SYLVESTRE “sill-VEST” – stats; 20 years old, 6’0″ 165 lbs., Boucherville, Quebec
  • Played three seasons in the QMJHL with Chicoutimi and Rimouski with 148 points (61g-87a) in 165 games
  • Led Chicoutimi in scoring with 44 points (20g-24a) in just 38 games last season before being dealt to Rimouski where he totaled 10 goals and 22 assists for 32 points in 26 games
  • Second on Rimouski in playoff scoring last season with 11 points (4g-7a) in 11 games
  • In 2012-13, he finished third in scoring for Chicoutimi with 62 points (28g-34a) in 68 games
“Sébastien is a player I saw a lot of in junior and he brings an all-around game to our club,” Houle said. “He protects the puck well and is willing to battle hard every night.”

LANE – stats; 25 years old, 6’8″, 240 lbs., Whitehorse, Yukon Territory
  • Entering his fourth professional season after playing 56 games with Quad City (CHL) lastseason
  • Third on the Mallards with 88 penalty minutes in 2013-14
  • Previous ECHL experience with Elmira in 2011-12 where he was teammates with former Condors G Brian Stewart, G Timo Pielmeier, D Joey Ryan, and D Evan Stoflet,
“Jordan is tough and extremely physical,” Houle said. “He’s a big body who will be a physical presence during camp.”

MEET THE TEAM AT OPEN HOUSE ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7 FROM 5-8 P.M.
Get your first look at the 2014-15 Condors at the team’s annual Open House on Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 5-8 p.m. The team will scrimmage from 6-7 p.m. and immediately following, everyone in attendance is invited to meet the team, get autographs, and take pictures from 7-8 p.m. in the lower suites. Season ticket holders can pick up tickets and their gift at the event as well as Kids Club Members can pick up badges and gifts. Admission is free with the donation of two canned goods.
