Bakersfield had their chances in the first period of play, but time and again were denied by Utah G Jimmy Spratt. He made 15 first period saves, including several point-blank chances. G Bryan Pitton made six opening period saves and the frame ended 0-0.

The Condors continued to pelt the Utah netminder with shots, and were finally rewarded with a pair of late goals. F Peter Boyd netted his 17th of the season, and fourth shorthanded goal, at 17:00 to give the Condors the first goal of the night. Just 1:47 later they connected on the power play, with F Tyler Helfrich potting his 19th of the season with a one-timer blast.

Bakersfield blew the game wide open early in the third with two goals in the first 3:35. F Evan Trupp and LW Jesse Gimblett both lit the lamp to give the Condors a 4-0 cushion. Only a power play redirection late in the third spoiled the night for Pitton, who made 24 saves on the evening.
