Condors Start Strong, but fall to Stockton, 3-2

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors (23-39-4-3, 53pts) got to the Stockton Thunder (33-31-1-4, 71pts) early with two first period goals, but saw two leads evaporate and a frantic finish fall short in a 3-2 loss.

LW Kyle Calder opened the scoring with a wraparound backhanded effort from behind the net of Stockton G Olivier Roy to give Bakersfield a 1-0 lead at 2:26 of the first period. Stockton F Jesse Fratkin equalized, 7:37 into the frame, to knot the game at 1-1. Calder then finished off a two-on-one rush with RW Tyler Helfrich to put the Condors in front 2-1 at 9:39. The Thunder would pull back into a tie at 2-2 just 43 seconds later when F Jordan Fulton notched his 16th of the season. Shots favored the Condors, 13-5.

Stockton got their first lead of the weekend after F Chris D’Alvise split the defense and put the Thunder in front 3-2 at 14:12 of the second period. It was the lone goal of the frame as the Condors were outshot, 9-8.

Bakersfield pulled G Matt Keetley late, but could not find an equalizing tally and fell 3-2 to the Thunder.
