Condors succumb to Stockton despite 56-shot effort

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – The Stockton Thunder (22-18-1-3, 48pts) received a 55-save effort from G Olivier Roy, and took down the Bakersfield Condors (10-30-4-1, 25pts) 4-1 at Rabobank Arena Wednesday night.

The Condors had plenty of chances in the opening period, but were continuously denied by Roy, who stopped 19 shots in the frame. Stockton scored the lone goal of the period, with C Chris D’Alvise chipping in a tally at 10:14 off a broken play to take the lead.

Stockton blew the game open in the middle frame, scoring on two of their first three shots of the period, and adding a power play goal later in the period. Bakersfield posted 19 shots on goal again in the second, but F Chris Doyle scored twice and RW Kevin Baker added his team-leading 20th of the season.

Bakersfield finally got on the board with a power play goal by LW Jesse Gimblett at 3:46 of the frame. Bakersfield added another 17 shots in the period, but Roy stood strong, finishing with 55 saves on the night.
