Condors Take One Point in 2-1 Shootout Loss to Idaho

BOISE, Idaho – The Bakersfield Condors (18-36-4-3, 43pts) received a 40 save performance from goaltender Bryan Pitton, but the Idaho Steelheads (25-29-2-5, 57pts) stole the extra point in a shootout with a 2-1 victory on Friday night at CenturyLink Arena.

Playing in his first period of hockey in over a month, it didn’t take long for LW Jesse Gimblett to give the Condors a 1-0 lead. At 5:01 of the first period, Gimblett collected a rebound at the top of the crease, shifted from forehand to backhand and beat Idaho G Jerry Kuhn. The Condors went on to double up the Steelheads in the shot department, 18-9.

After the Condors had difficulties in their own end clearing the puck, F Aaron Lewicki slid a pass from behind the net that was rifled by Condors G Bryan Pitton by F Patrick Kennedy at 14:09 of the second period to tie the game at 1-1. It was the lone goal of the period as Idaho outshot Bakersfield, 14-9.

Neither team found the back of the net in the third period as the game progressed to overtime.

In overtime, the Condors had a brief four-on-three power play, but could not convert as the teams headed to a shootout. In the shootout, Idaho scored twice while the Condors only tallied once with LW Peter Boyd beating Kuhn as the Steelheads took the extra point in a 2-1 win.
