HOLTY’S BLOG: A Friday Off

This is a blog about food with some hockey mixed in. Just kidding.

Though I probably will mention food often, because, well, as I’ll remind you, it’s my blog, and I’ll do what I want.

Now for the blog (a day late)…

Griffin Reinhart is back skating with the Condors in a yellow no-contact jersey. That’s a good sign and hopefully he can be ready to go soon.

Speaking of d-men, Dillon Simpson was reassigned to the Condors today and C Kellan Lain was released from his PTO.

Up in Edmonton, C Anton Lander was placed on waivers. Should he clear, he would likely be assigned to Bakersfield, but don’t expect him this weekend.

Other notes from up there, D Kris Russell is back skating at practice, winger Matt Hendricks is close to a return, and C Drake Caggiula is on the trip with the Oilers in Dallas, so healthy bodies are certainly coming on the horizon.

Took in the Oilers game last night in LA. In addition to catching up with Simpson before his assignment here, had a chance to chat with former Condors Leon Draisaitl, Darnell Nurse, Zack Kassian, and Anton Slepyshev. Nurse scored and Draisaitl had an assist in the game. It’s great to see former Condors doing well at the highest level and for a pretty good team.

Good article on Condors netminder Nick Ellis from the Oilers’ Marc Ciampa on their site. Bakersfield has one of the better goaltending pairings in the AHL and that figures to only improve as the season goes on.

Holty … you promised food. Well as you can see below, last night’s dessert cart at the Kings game wasn’t bad. Today, I took Scott Allen, Bryce Aneloski, Patrick Russell, and Mikael Tam over to Jin Sushi for lunch and pictures with The Bakersfield Californian. It’s for their upcoming dining issue and Jin’s a popular spot for lunch among the group.

–  Speaking of Allen, we had him on Unleashed Tuesday and that was a pretty funny segment below:

Friday night off huh? It’s the second Friday off already for the team, first at home. Have to close this home stand strong with Stockton and San Jose in town. It’s not like we hit the road for an extended period of time though. Just one same in San Jose, then it is back home for five of six games thru Dec. 10.

Teddy Bear Toss is in eight days. Do me a favor and pick up some bears or stuffed animals over the course of the next week and make kids’ days this year with the toss.

–  LOCK OF THE WEEK? Love Oakland (-6) in Mexico City.

Until next time Condorstown…
