Skate Board Decks Giveaway and Condors Fighting Cancer Weekend

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – The Condors take to the Mercy and Memorial Hospitals Home Ice at Rabobank Arena for three games this week. The team plays on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and all three games start at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, 5:30 p.m. on Friday, and 4:45 p.m.

The puck drops on a jam-packed week of Condors action on Wednesday as the Condors hold their annual Book Collection. Fans who bring two books for donation to the game can receive $1 terrace level tickets presented by Wells Fargo. The books will then be donated to local schools. Grab your favorite selection from off the shelves and make a difference in a student’s life today.

On Friday night, the Condors will giveaway Skate Board Decks
to the first 2,000 fans, 17 and younger. These custom Condors decks will be all the rage around Condorstown. Just please strap on that helmet and promise us that you won’t hurt yourself! The game is sponsored by ABC23 and 106.1 KRAB Radio.

Saturday night is one of the most anticipated events of the season as the team holds their annualCondors Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon presented by 29 Eyewitness News and KUZZ 107.9 FM. Now in its eighth season, the Condors game concludes 24 straight hours of hockey played in Bakersfield to help raise funds for breast cancer awareness.

Prior to the Condors battling the Wranglers, a special alumni game will be held beginning at 5 p.m. It will feature Condors legends Paul Willett, Scott Hay, Jamie 2009-02-26 Cooke hockey-thonCooke (pictured), Scott Borders, Glen Mears, Mike Hofstrand, Andrew Ianiero, Brian McCarthy, Kevin Truelson, and current Condors Assistant Coach Kevin Barrett as they take the ice together. Word on the street is that the alumni have been holding secret late-night practices in preparation for the game.

Once the alumni are done on the ice, the Condors will take on the Wranglers with live and silent auctions held throughout the game to raise money for Links for Life, a local breast cancer resource center.

It is the final Kids Club Night of the year where members will receive free lower level admission presented by Bright House Networks and Wells Fargo. Don’t forget about the Kids Club Party to be held at Rollerama West on March 26th, either!

The Condors will recognize students who excelled in school by presenting them with complimentary terrace level admission through the Mercy and Memorial Hospitals and Diamond Technologies T.H.I.N.K. (Turn Hockey Into New Knowledge) program. The team will giveaway a new computer courtesy of Diamond Technologies to one lucky student.

Stop by The Bakersfield Marriott Autograph Booth at the north end of the concourse after the games to get your favorite player’s autograph. Wednesday’s game will feature G Bryan Pittonand D Scott Enders. On Friday, LW Kyle Calder and D Keith Wynn will sign. After Saturday’s game, LW Peter Boyd and D Josh Van Dyk will meet and greet fans.

Saturday’s game will be televised on Bright House Networks digital channel 10 and will be replayed on Bakersfield On Demand, channel 300.

On Sunday, the team heads to Las Vegas for a 2 p.m. afternoon game against the Wranglers.

All games will be broadcast live in their entirety on Fox Sports 970 AM, and also available online at www.foxsports970am.com. In addition, anyone with a smartphone can download the iheartradio app and tune into the action from anywhere. Saturday’s action is also the Condors Game of the Week on Fox Sports Radio 610in Lancaster. The games will be streamed online through the exclusive pay-per-view video provider of the ECHL,www.americaone.com.

Announced last week, the Condors would like to extend a helping hand to Condorstown’s unemployed with an offer of up to four (4) complimentary tickets to the remaining three Wednesday home games. It is a difficult time in the job market today and the Condors hope to ease the burden with a great night out at the rink for the families of those having trouble finding work.

To receive the tickets, fans must bring their notice of unemployment from theEmployment Development Department of California to the box office. Hours are Monday through Friday from 10-6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10-4 p.m. with extended hours on gamedays.
