Weekly update: Condors climb to 6th in the conference

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors, owned by the Edmonton Oilers, came out of a two-game week with just one point in the standings – but gained ground in the standings anyway – after suffering setbacks against the top two clubs in the Western Conference.
The Condors (30-29-2-4, .508 win pct.) went 0-1-0-1, but still managed to jump past Stockton (.492 win pct.) in the standings, and currently sit in 6th place. Both teams have seven games left on the season.

Notes from the Nest:

  • F Gary Steffes scored twice against Ontario Friday, and has back-to-back 2-goal games against the Pacific Division champions
  • G Chet Pickard has given up just one goal in two shootouts this season (9-for-10).
  • D-men Colin Joe and Ian Barteaux both made their pro debut on Friday. They claimed a CIS championship with the University of Alberta just days prior to joining the Condors.
  • RW Jordan Knackstedt saw his six-game point streak come to an end on Friday. He had 2g-5a-7pts in the streak.
