This Friday the VeggieTales will be live in Condorstown courtesy of KERI 1180 am and Island Style. Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber will be at The Nest to meet the fans and pose for photos. Some people might ask, “Who are the VeggieTales?” The VeggieTales is a series of children's computer-animated films conveying the Christian bible and moral ideas to children via humorous, anthropomorphic vegetable characters. The first VeggieTales video was released in 1993, and was the United States’ first completely computer animated video widely distributed in VHS format. Since then, the VeggieTales videos have sold well over 50 million copies. Most VeggieTales videos follow a set pattern. The presenters (Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber, both who will be in Condorstown) set up a moral situation, often arising from a letter from a viewer at home. There is then a discussion among several of the main characters as to how this is best answered. Inevitably, they get to the point where they "roll the video". There is usually an intermission for a "Silly Song with Larry", and at the end the presenters return to wrap up the moral lesson with an applicable "memory verse" as delivered from QWERTY, the computer. Generally, Bob is the straight man to Larry's goofier character. Larry usually gets the best of the sometimes overly serious Bob. The internal stories themselves are often based on biblical or famous literary stories, sometimes transferred to a different setting (for example, Sumo of the Opera teaches about perseverance by retelling Rocky mixed with The Karate Kid.) Similar to most children’s shows that become very popular, the VeggieTales has broadened its scope of merchandise. Fans can now purchase VeggieTales clothing, movies and video games, all to have fun and still convey a message and morals. The VeggieTales airs weekly on NBC and Telemundo. For more information on the VeggieTales, visit their website at www.bigidea.com.
Along with the VeggieTales, Christian recording artist ever stays red will also be in The Nest Friday. They will perform live in the arena during the second intermission and after the game for about an hour. Below is a note that ever stays red wanted to pass along to Condorstown. “We are super excited to be a part of this night with the Condors. A couple of notes about us... We are a group of people who are passionate about music and our God who has blessed us with the ability to play music in many different places and for many different people. We will always use any chance we get to reach people and affect their lives positively by displaying through our music a new kind of hope and joy that we have found in life. We play music that is blatant about our passion for God, and allows those who enjoy the music a different approach to rocking out!” -ESR To visit ever stays red's website, click here.
