New Look Web Site to be Unveiled

In anticipation of the 2006-07 season, the Condors plan to unveil a revamped web site soon. You will still be able to access everything from the game schedule to the Condors Mailbag and your favorite TV commercials! So be on the lookout for all of your favorite features with a fresh look, scheduled to launch this week!

    Condors Mailbag

The Condors’ Mailbag has been integrated into the Condors web site as a way to answer questions regarding the team, front office and organization. The coaches and front office will answer all pertinent questions. The Condors’ Mailbag is displayed on the Condors homepage. An archive of recently asked questions can be found at bakersfieldcondors.com.

Q: Before the NHL lockout Bakersfield used to get a preseason NHL game, usually the Kings. Will this resume now that the lockout is over?

A: Due to a shorter NHL preseason with fewer games, the Kings unfortunately will not make an appearance at Rabobank Arena this year. The Kings (and perhaps the Anaheim Ducks) however, could play an exhibition game during the 2007 NHL preseason.

Jeremy Zager, Director of Communications and Community Development

Q: Now that the San Diego Gulls have ceased operations, what does that mean to the players? Are they free to go elsewhere of there choosing, or will they be traded?

A:After the San Diego Gulls ceased operations all players were deemed unrestricted free agents and are free to sign with whichever team they see fit. We are currently speaking to a couple of them in regards to joining the Condors for the 2006-2007 season. Keep an eye out for any official player signings on our web site.

    Tim Statezni, "The Mailbag Guy"

    We’ll Miss You Bob Duffy

On Sunday, July 30th, Condors long-time photographer Robert J. Duffy passed away. Bob was a kind and generous man who always brought a smile to the faces of others. He has been an integral part of the Condors photography staff dating back to the days of the Oilers and Fog and he will be greatly missed.

During the 1960s, Robert was the PA announcer at the Kernals games for the two years they were in operation and was also a hockey manager for a minor league team in Massachusetts in the 1940s. Coming from the East Coast, Robert had a special connection to players from the Massachusetts area including former Idaho Steelhead’s Cal Ingraham and Condors former player Brian Swiniarski. Robert’s passion for photography inspired many, including his son Michael (Condors main photographer).

The Condors organization expresses our deepest sympathies to the Duffy family for their loss. In lieu of flowers, the Duffy family is asking for donations to be made to local charity organizations.
