The coaches and front office will make every attempt to answer all pertinent questions. The Condors’ Mailbag is displayed on the Condors homepage. An archive of recently asked questions can be found at bakersfieldcondors.com.

Q: Why do the Condors always need to change their schedule around the new sports that come into Rabobank? I would think with the fan base and economic value of the Condors the new teams would make their schedules around the Condors. I may be a little bias to hockey, but why are we playing two games on Saturday afternoon when an unproven basketball team plays the night games?

    A:
This season we do have two Saturday games starting at noon, and the NDBL team is playing the evening game on those same Saturdays at Rabobank Arena. Maximizing our game schedule is very important to us and we spend a lot of time on it, however I have yet to see the perfect schedule for any team. As you note, our economic impact to the community is estimated to be nearly $10 million annually http://www.bakersfieldcondors.com/condors_town/ec onomic_impact.asp and Condors Hockey has drawn more people to the arena than all other public events combined, so certainly we feel we’re due a little preferential treatment. At the same time, we are VERY fortunate to be playing in one of the best arenas and practice facilities in the ECHL. For obvious attendance purposes, we try to schedule most of our home games on Friday and Saturday nights. This season we have 23 Friday and Saturday home games compared with 22 last season, so it’s tough to complain about that. Compared to other ECHL teams, that puts us pretty much in the middle of the pack. That being said, we are prepared to market these Saturday afternoon games to maximize our attendance and give the Condors the best chance of winning. Hope to see you there!

    Care-A-Van Heads to Delano

The Condors Care-A-Van and Goodwill Industries didn’t travel “2200 miles” but they did travel the “Wide Open Spaces” of Kern County. But the Condors Care-A-Van isn’t done yet; they have one more stop. On September 29th, the Care- A-Van and Goodwill Industries will travel the road to Delano where they will attend Success Day at Morningside Elementary School and also visit the Delano Regional Medical Center.
