Greetings!
Another season means more fun and creativity for the Condors marketing department. The Condors recently shot three new commercials which will begin running in October. The commercials feature hockey players and some local actors in everyday situations at the market, golf course and gas station here in Condorstown. The first of the three commercials was shot at Ranch Market at 2705 S. H Street with Mike Hofstrand. The commercial begins with a couple walking in an isle and a can of tuna falls toward their feet. The gentleman goes into a haze and imagines the can is a puck and proceeds to hit it down the aisle at a goalie, who is actually a store worker. Then Hofstrand walks by as he’s doing his shopping and welcomes viewers to Condorstown. After shooting at Ranch Market, it was on to Rio Bravo Golf Course with Kevin St. Jacques. The shoot features golfers, including Condors mascot Colonel Claw’d, enjoying a nice relaxing game. One of the golfers daydreams that the golfer teeing it up is a hockey player and dives to block the shot. St. Jacques, who just happens to be playing in the next foursome, walks by and says, “Welcome to Condorstown.” Condors front office staffers Scott Frasnelly, Justin Fahsbender and Ryan Hanson also display their acting talents in this spot. The final commercial was shot at the Mobil
gas station on Oak and Brundage and featured
Condors player Sean Venedam. The commercial
starts with two men pumping gas. One man notices
an Alaska license plate on the other car. He then
starts to daydream that an Alaska Aces player is
actually there getting gas. The local man runs over
and delivers a nice body check to the Alaska player.
He then realizes he was daydreaming and helps him
back to his feet, as Venedam is walking out of the
store in full gear saying, “Welcome to Condorstown.”
Hey, it’s Assistant Coach Mark Pederson here, stopping by to tell you about my summer. This past summer I spent my days and nights with Sunde, my wife, and daughter Demi in Kalispell, Montana. I love the great Montana weather- it only rained once the entire time I was home. I loved the cool nights and warm days. I spent most of my time home with Demi, who loves to ride horses. She had a few riding competitions that took us all the way to Calgary, Alberta, where she got 1st place both days. While in Canada, we spent a few days with my sister and my parents who came up to watch the competitions. After returning home to Montana, I put my husbandly skills to use around the acreage and fixing fences and building Demi an outdoor riding arena. We held lots of barbecues - I’m a self-acclaimed barbecue guru who can make a mean steak! Of course, I kept in touch with the hockey world by attending the NHL Draft in June, and remained in constant contact with Bob Bartlett and Marty Raymond regarding player recruitment. As well, I compiled video to assist the team, as we’re always working to improve our discipline, attitude and effort on the ice.
The Condors bring many benefits to our area.
Some are tangible (economic boosts to our
community), while others are intangible (in the form
of recognition, both regionally and nationwide).
The Condors economic impact on Bakersfield is
over $10 million per year. That doesn’t include the
attention brought to our area through media
coverage, players and staff being involved in the
community, souvenirs with the name Bakersfield on
them, marketing opportunities for businesses with the
team and much, much more. For a complete
breakdown of the Condors economic impact, click here.
Of course, none of this is possible without the
support of our fans, the city of Bakersfield, and Kern
County. We thank you and salute you, and are
proud to be a vital economic asset, as well as a
great source of family fun.

The Condors would like to wish former account managers Jill Gibson and Craig Turney the best of luck. Jill will be working for University of Phoenix as an admissions consultant. Craig, who had been with the organization since May 2005, has returned to his family roots in Colorado as an account manager for the Colorado Rampage in the Central Hockey League.
The Bakersfield Condors staff would like to take this opportunity to thank Kevin Truelson for donating his time and efforts in the community this summer. We are awarding him as our “Star Summer Hockey Player” for all his time dedicated on a voluntary basis. Truelson “Dunked for Dollars” to help raise money for the American Heart Association, spoke to students at The Little Red School House, visited with kids at the Boys and Girls Club of Bakersfield for the “Day for Kids” and helped schedule commercials to give thanks to our sponsors. If that wasn’t enough, he also blogs on the website to give fans an insight into his daily life. Director of Communications and Community Development, Jeremy Zager, said, “As an organization that prides itself on community involvement it is very important to get our players throughout the Bakersfield community year round. Kevin has been a tremendous help in fulfilling our community goals this summer and we appreciate everything that he has done.” Kevin Truelson adds, “I will never forget the humble beginnings that I came from, and those who have helped me along the way. Without their help I would never be who and where I am today. The least I can do for those people is do what they did for me. I'm both gracious and thankful to the people of Bakersfield for letting me into their lives, and letting me become part of their community. I enjoy the community and hopefully they enjoy me.” The Condors staff would also like to thank Sean Venedam, Andrew Ianiero and Scott Borders for dedicating their time to serving the community on behalf of the Condors this summer. These players made school visits, helped raise money for the American Heart Association and participated in Condors Care-A-Vans.
