    Greetings!

'The Boys Are Back In Town'

It’s that time of year again. Training camp is underway. With less than 16 days remaining until the season opener, players are pouring into town for training camp. Twenty-nine talented men will take to the ice competing to be one of the 2005-06 Condors.

Get ready Bakersfield; history has repeated itself. The Los Angeles Kings and Manchester Monarchs have sent another goalie and forward to Bakersfield. This year fans can look forward to seeing forward Eric Neilson and goalie Ryan Munce with the Condors, in what is sure to be an exciting season.

Neilson was drafted in the 2004 NHL Draft by the Los Angeles Kings. He enters his first season in the pros after playing four years with Rimouski Oceanic in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Munce was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the 3rd round of the NHL Draft in 2001. Last season, he was ranked 4th among goaltenders in the Ontario Hockey League with 55 starts.

Joining Neilson and Munce in training camp will be 27 other individuals, including recent signees Rob MacGregor and Davis Parley. MacGregor appeared in nine games for the Victoria Salmon Kings last season, where he recorded a goal and four penalty minutes. Prior to playing with Victoria, he spent his junior hockey league with the WHL’s Portland Winter Hawks.

Parley returns to the lineup after helping the Condors get to the playoffs last season. After joining the Condors late in the season from the Texas Wildcatters, he played in 11 games with the Condors including all five of the ECHL Kelly Cup Playoff games and put up 2.87 goals against average and a .922 save percentage.

Open House and Pre-Season Game Are Just Around the Corner

“The Hunt Is On” as the Condors kick-off the hockey season with the annual Open House and Family Day on Sunday, October 9th, at the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center at 1325 Q Street, between Truxtun and California.

Open House will be the first chance to meet the Condors this season. Presented by KGET TV 17, admission is free with the donations of two non- perishable food items to The Salvation Army Food Pantry. Fans will be able to skate with the Condors from 2:00-3:00pm and watch them practice from 3:30-4:45pm. Fans can bring their own skates or rent skates for $3.00 Activities for the kids will be set-up outside the Ice Sports Center including the inflatable Slapshot game. This will also be the first day that season ticket holders can pick up their season tickets.

The Condors will host the Fresno Falcons during a pre- season game on Saturday, October 15th at the Rabobank Arena at 7pm. Sunday, October 16th, the Condors will fly South for a 3:30pm face off against the San Diego Gulls at the San Diego Ice Arena. Don’t miss these season previews!

2005-06 Ticket Sales Surpass Last Year’s Total

The Condors season ticket sales for the 2005-06 season have already surpassed the total for the 2004- 05 season with a month to go before opening night. So far more than 2,200 seats have been sold, which has inspired the ticket staff to pass the franchise’s all-time record of 2,600 seats set in 2000-01. We appreciate the community’s support!!!

For more information and contest guidelines visit the Bakersfield Condors website. Entries will be collected until October 11th and then fans will vote on one of the top five entries at www.krab.com; www.big965.com ; and www.bakersfieldcondors.com. The contest winner will receive four season tickets for the 2005- 06 season.

    Getting to Know the Condors

Rob MacGregor- says there’s nothing like his favorite dish- homemade spaghetti with meat sauce. He says his playing style is similar to Anaheim Mighty Ducks’ Scott Neidermayer. Last fall and this summer MacGregor spent time getting to know Vancouver Canucks’ Markus Nasland at a hockey camp. When he gets some free time he’d like to spend days reading and golfing on the Maldive Islands.

Davis Parley- describes his playing style as similar to NHL goalie Dan Cloutier of the Vancouver Canucks. Although he likens himself to Dan Cloutier, Parley says he’d like to meet the infamous Jeremy Roenick. Parley might actually get his chance to meet Roenick since Roenick was traded to the Los Angeles Kings this year. When he’s not blocking shots, he can be found either listening to Linkin Park or putting on the green.

Dave Cacciola- this New Englander describes his favorite food as anything seafood, especially lobster. When Cacciola isn’t snatching the puck out of thin air, he spends his free time fishing, listening to the musical melodies of Dave Matthews or watching his favorite movie- Bringing Down the House.

Proposed Kids Zone – We Want Your Feedback!

The Condors are proposing to add Kids Zone in hopes of providing a great place for your kids to release some energy during the Condors games. Plans are to locate it on the south concourse behind sections 117 & 100. Kids Zone should not be viewed as a childcare facility, but a place kids can enjoy the Inflatable Slapshot and other games and entertainment. As we develop this plan, we’re looking for feedback from the fans. What would you like to see in the zone? Should there be an age limit? What other comments do you have? To voice your input please contact Shannon Armstrong at sarmstrong@bakersfieldcondors.com or by phone at 324-PUCK (7825).

    Home Opener October 22nd

In 16 days, the Condors will take the ice against the Victoria Salmon Kings on Saturday, October 22nd in what is sure to be an exciting night. That night, everyone in attendance will receive a 2005-06 magnet schedule, courtesy of KGEO AM 1230 and Watson Realty. The magnets will help kick off a complete schedule of giveaways, appearances and promotions that will run the entire 36-game course of the Condors home schedule
