There's lots going on in Condorstown during November for our season ticket holders. For the 10:30 a.m. Field Trip Day game on Wednesday, Nov. 14, the newly remodeled Flascho Board Room, normally reserved for Club and Glass Season Ticket Holders only, will be open during the game for all Season Ticket Holders.

On Friday, Nov. 16, season seat holders interested in putting together a group outing of at least 20 friends, family members or co-workers will receive half off normal ticket rates. Call your Condors Account Manager at 324-PUCK (7825) to secure the best locations or for more information. As well, all season ticket holders are invited to the lower level to meet the team after the game!

A select few of you still have not picked up your 10th anniversary sweatshirt. If you renewed your 2007- 08 season tickets before April 30th by paying in full or signing up for Autopay, you received a phone call during the summer from us to get your correct shirt size. Feel free to contact Jose Rivera in the office with any questions or inquiries. The last day for eligible season ticket holders to pick up their sweatshirts is Monday, Nov 19. by 5 p.m.

Don't forget that the home game that was originally scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 17 at Noon has been rescheduled to Sunday, Nov. 18 with the opening face off scheduled for 5 p.m. Your season ticket books were printed prior to the change, so your tickets will still say Saturday, Nov. 17, but bring those tickets to the game on Sunday, Nov 18 at 5 p.m. To view the complete schedule, click here.

    Condors Mailbag
    mailbag

The Condors' Mailbag has been integrated into the Condors website as a way to answer questions regarding the team, front office and organization. The coaches and front office will answer all relative questions. If you'd like to ask a question or check out some other questions the Condors' Mailbag is displayed on the Condors homepage.

Q: I'm not sure if you were aware of it, but one of your biggest Condors fans passed away at the tender age of 21 on Oct. 22nd. Ryan Newby was born with cerebral palsy but he enjoyed life to the fullest. His favorite thing to do was watch the Condors games from our suite in his wheelchair.

His parents, Kelly and Lori Newby laid him to rest wearing his Condors jersey this last Saturday. Just thought you would want to know what a big impact your team has on its fans.

    Sincerely,
    Scott D. Garrison

A: We were saddened to hear of Ryan's passing at such a young age, but glad to hear he found so much joy during his time and touched so many people's lives. We're honored that we could help bring some enjoyment to his life. Our condolences go out to his family, friends and all who had the good fortune to cross paths with Ryan.

Blast from the Past - Glen Mears

In conjunction with the Condors upcoming 10th Anniversary Season, we continue to shine the spotlight on some of the Condors legends from past years. In this edition of Blast from the Past, we caught up with standout defenseman Glen Mears, who's #26 is one of three numbers that have been retired by the Condors.

Mears was part of the Condors team that ran off 11 straight victories at the start of the 1999-2000 season. There haven't been many streaks longer than that in any sport to start a season, and Mears recalled what it was like to be part of that.

"It got to the point where we started to feel unbeatable," said Mears. "I remember it being a new phenomenon for Bakersfield. We had a lot of home games and big crowds."

"No matter what the situation, we expected to come back and win. Even when we finally dropped a game, there was just an expectation that we were going to find a way to come through. It was a real good feeling."

Glen now resides in northwest Bakersfield with his wife, Amber, and their two kids, Logan, 6 and Gavin, 2, and works at Quad Knopf as a Planning and Biology Manager. Glen is actively involved with his kids' teams in youth hockey.
