Jake Varner Night – Saturday, Dec. 29

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors will return to the Dignity Health Home Ice after Christmas. On Saturday, Dec. 29 when they host the Idaho Steelheads, the Condors are proud to welcome Condorstown native and 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist Jake Varner to Rabobank Arena.

That night, the team will wear unique Jake Varner/wrestling-themed jerseys for a Jersey Off Our Backs Raffle and Auction. After the game the jerseys will be auctioned off to raise funds for League of Dreams (Click here to learn more about League of Dreams). The night is sponsored by 92.1 Max FM, American Business Machines and TERRIO Physical Therapy. The jerseys are designed to mimic Varner in his Olympic singlet, in which he won the Gold in the London.

In addition, five of the game-issued jerseys will be raffled off for free throughout the night. All fans in attendance are eligible to win one.

Varner and his shiny gold medal will be hanging out in the Condors Photo Booth posing for pictures with the fans, and signing autographs.

Before the game, Varner will hold a Q&A with ticket plan holders and qualifying groups of 10 or more people. It is a great opportunity for youth teams or aspiring Olympians to ask questions and hear from an elite athlete who has excelled on the global stage. Contact the Condors office at 324-PUCK (7825) for information on how you can have your group participate and save money on your tickets.

Kush/Varner jersey can help Kush Krush Cancer
In addition to the League of Dreams auction proceeds of the team’s jerseys, a Jake Varner jersey featuring the #18 of Chris Kushneriuk will be auctioned off to benefit the Condors player who is currently seeking medical treatment for testicular cancer.

This is one of several fundraising plans in the works to help Kushneriuk in his recovery. Fans can also purchase purple Kush wrist bands at the Bakersfield Condors Booster Club table on game nights to help fund his treatments. Stay tuned for details about more events in the coming weeks.
