CONDORS DROP SEASON OPENER, 4-3

The Bakersfield Condors (0-1-0) dropped the season opener, 4-3 to the Henderson Silver Knights (1-0-0, 2pts) on Saturday in Nevada.

Henderson scored in the first on Alex Weiermair’s first professional goal and in the second period to make it 2-0 on Alexander Holtz’s first of the season.

Bakersfield got on the board in the third period on a Daniel D’Amato (1st) backhand goal to make it a 2-1 game. After Henderson went back up by two at 3-1, Connor Clattenburg (1st) followed up a rebound to make it 3-2 midway through the final frame. Holtz would score his second of the night, this time on the power play with just over four minutes left to put the game out of reach. Quinn Hutson (1st) cut the lead to 4-3 with a 6-on-4 power play goal late, but it was not enough.

The Condors went 1/6 on the power play. Josh Brown had two assists and a fighting major.
