Bakersfield ended an eight-game winless skid with a 2-1 win over the Las Vegas Wranglers last night at Rabobank Arena. The Condors raced out a to 2-0 lead after the opening 20 minutes thanks to tallies from C Joel Broda and RW Jordan Knackstedt. A late power-play goal from the Wranglers made things interesting, but 20 stops from G Andy Chiodo held up for the victory.
Stockton had last night off after splitting a Wednesday-Friday series in Loveland against the Eagles. After dropping Wednesday’s contest, the Thunder responded with a 3-2 overtime win on Friday. F Andrew Clark notched the game-winner at 2:20 of the extra session and made a winner of G Brian Foster who made 36 saves.
Broda played his first game of the season last night after returning from Oklahoma City. He had 30 points (17g-13a) in 32 games back in 2010-11 for Bakersfield.. LW Spencer Bennett picked up an assist last night in his Condors debut… A pair of Condors, D Nick Pageau and D Joey Leach, each earned their first pro point with assists last night… F Brett Lyon squared off with Vegas F Adam Huxley for his second fighting major of the season (team’s 6th)… Bakersfield does not play a game outside of California until December 6 in Las Vegas.
