Condors sign goaltender Jim Watt

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors, ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, announced they have signed G Jim Watt. He will be in the lineup this weekend when the Condors host the Idaho Steelheads on Friday and Saturday.

 

Watt, 24, will get his first opportunity at the professional level Jim Wattfollowing a four-year career at the University of Windsor in the Canadian College ranks. He appeared for Team Canada in the World University Games last month. The Edmonton Native compiled a 37-59-0 record with 7 shutouts while with Windsor, with his best season coming in 2008-09. That year, Watt went 13-15-0 and posted 4 shutouts in his 28 games. He also posted a 2.64 GAA to go along with a .923 save percentage. That season, he was named the OUA (Ontario University Athletics) Top Goaltender, and was also a 1st Team All-Star.

 

Prior to his college years, Watt played five years in the Western Hockey League, mainly for the Spokane Chiefs. He played in 166 games in the WHL, with his best season coming in 2003-04. That season, Watt recorded a 2.65 GAA and a .915 save percentage.
