Condors training camp commences Sept. 30
BAKERSFIELD, Calif.– The Bakersfield Condors have announced their schedule for training camp, set to hit the ice on Friday, Sept. 30. The two-week camp includes two preseason matchups against the Stockton Thunder (Oct. 8 at home) and an intrasquad scrimmage that will be open only to season ticket holders, on Oct. 5.
The first session for the team will be at 10 a.m. at the Bakersfield Ice 
Sports Center (1325 Q St.). The team will practice until 12:15 p.m. The annual Open House and Family Day will be on Saturday, Oct. 1 from noon – 2:30 p.m., with a chance to see the team scrimmage and also meet the fans for a skate with the team at the BISC. The on-ice schedule is below.
The Bakersfield Marriott at the Convention Center is the official host hotel, while Goose Loonies, the Marriott, Chef’s Choice Noodle Bar, Jacalito Grill (on Truxtun Ave.), Marie Callenders (California Ave.) and Round Table Pizza (corner of Gosford and White Lane) will be hosting the team for meals during training camp. Body Xchange will serve as the official training facility for the Condors.
One of the highlights of the first week on the ice is the intrasquad game, on Oct. 5. Never before hosted by the Condors, this game will be a full, competitive game comprised entirely of the training camp roster.
What Head Coach Matt O’Dette says
“It’s going to be a formal game: 20 minute periods, refs, penalties… everything. They will be scrimmaging all week and this will be a bit of a finale for head-to-head action. I want to get them under the lights, see them in a game situation and see how they’re going to respond. Under the bright lights of the big building things are different and it will get us more prepared for our preseason games.”
Admission to the intrasquad game is free for season ticket holders. Present your season ticket holder badge upon entry. Seating is not assigned.
