Name the Bakersfield AHL Team Contest

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors, owned by the Edmonton Oilers, announced today that the organization is asking for submissions for a ‘Name the AHL Team’ contest. This follows yesterday’s announcement that Bakersfield will be part of a brand-new Pacific Division of the American Hockey League (AHL), the top development league of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Submissions will be considered until February 15 at midnight. Extra credit and weight will be given to those who submit their own original logo design and/or jersey concept. One winner will win four tickets to a 2014-15 Condors game and drop the ceremonial first puck
History of modern-day Bakersfield hockey:
  • Bakersfield Oilers (Pacific Southwest Hockey League) 1994-95
  • Bakersfield Fog (West Coast Hockey League) 1995-1998
  • Bakersfield Condors (West Coast Hockey League) 1998-2003
  • Bakersfield Condors (ECHL) 2003-2015

The logo to the right was a finalist in 1998 prior to the team being named the Bakersfield Condors.
ABOUT THE NEW “AHL WEST”
  • Five teams located in Bakersfield (Edmonton Oilers), Ontario (Los Angeles Kings), San Diego (Anaheim Ducks), San Jose (San Jose Sharks), and Stockton (Calgary Flames) begin play in the Pacific Division of the AHL in 2015-16
  • The American Hockey League is enjoying its 79th season of play in 2014-15
