Stockton ends Condors winning streak with 4-1 decision

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – Four different players scored for the visiting Stockton Thunder (28-21-5-4, 65pts), who put an end to the Condors four-game winning streak with a 4-1 win over the Bakersfield Condors (18-35-2-3, 41pts) Thursday night in front of a rowdy crowd of 8,023.
Despite having the advantage in shots, the Condors surrendered the only tally of the frame. Ex-Condor LW Shawn Weller tipped home a shot from the blueline for his eighth of the campaign with less than four minutes before the intermission. G Olivier Roy made key saves for Stockton to allow them the chance to get the lead.

Stockton added a pair of goals to their lead in the middle stanza. LW Matt Bergland (at 6:27) and D Tony DeHart (on the power play at 8:25), extended the advantage to 3-0 in the first half of the period. Bakersfield responded with a power play goal of their own later in the second. LW Evan Trupp rammed in his fifth of the season at 10:38 on the Condors first man advantage. Bakersfield maintained a 25-16 shot lead through 40 minutes.

Needing a third period comeback, the Condors were denied time and again by Roy. Bakersfield added to their shot total in all three periods tonight, putting up 14 in the third. Stockton scored the only goal of the period, with F Matt Reber netting his eighth of the season at 14:31 to make it 4-1. That ended the night for G Brian Stewart, who headed to the dressing room hobbled after giving up the goal.
