Worth the wait – Condors win third straight

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – LW Evan Trupp scored twice and added a shootout tally to lead the Bakersfield Condors (13-32-4-1, 31pts) to a 4-3 shootout win over the Las Vegas Wranglers (30-16-1-4, 65pts) at Rabobank Arena in front of a rowdy crowd of 7,757 Saturday night.

After a lengthy delay to start the game, once the puck was dropped the action came quick, with a fight and two goals in the first three and a half minutes. After falling behind 1-0, Bakersfield tied it up with F Parker Stanfield netting his sixth of the season at 3:26. A fracas later in the period led to a three-minute 5-on-3 major power play for the Wranglers, and they connected once to make it 2-1 after one.

The two clubs exchanged tallies in the middle stanza to keep it a one-goal game. LW Evan Trupp lit the lamp with a rebound chance just 1:21 into the frame to make it 2-2. During 4-on-4 action later in the period, the Wranglers regained the lead, with C Adam Miller beating G Matt Keetley to bring it to 3-2. Shots were 31-17 Las Vegas through 40 minutes.

Bakersfield tied it up once again, early in the third period. Trupp notched his second of the night at 2:46 with a highlight-reel tally, scooping up the puck behind the net and slipping it over the shoulder of G Mitch O’Keefe, lacrosse-style.

Neither team scored in overtime, while Trupp and LW Kyle Calder both tickled the twine in the shootout to lift the Condors to victory.
