MEET ALEENA

Aleena is a courageous patient at Children’s Hospital who has faced more challenges than most people her age. While battling a Wilms tumor (kidney cancer), she has endured chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, and countless hospital visits—all while managing lung nodules, a lung infection, Valley Fever, and neurological complications. Despite these hurdles, Aleena continues to move forward with remarkable strength and determination.

Now a junior at Del Oro High School, Aleena is a passionate softball player and the youngest of three sisters. Known for her organized and caring nature, she finds comfort and joy in spending time with her puppies whenever she isn’t at school or medical appointments.

MEET JYNNA

Following her diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in October 2024, Jynna underwent four rounds of chemotherapy that required month-long hospital stays and grueling physical side effects. Despite enduring profound fatigue and fevers, she remained dedicated to her education, working through assignments from her hospital bed at her own pace. Her remarkable determination allowed her to maintain a 4.33 GPA throughout her treatment, culminating in her successful return to campus in May 2025 to finish her sophomore year and pass her AP World History exam.

Now a high school junior, Jynna is thriving with a 4.5 GPA and has expanded her academic horizons by enrolling in an online course at Taft College. Her journey from the oncology ward back to the classroom reflects a quiet strength and an unwavering commitment to her future. By balancing the rigors of college-level coursework with her high school studies, she continues to demonstrate the same perseverance that defined her recovery.

MEET CHARLOTTE

My name is Charley and I am 17 years old. Last year around May, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It was difficult being in the hospital for chemotherapy and radiation, especially watching everyone else live their lives while I was stuck in a hospital bed. However, as the months went by, I felt myself getting better. I was eventually able to return to schooling and even get back to playing softball.

I am graduating this year with a 4.0 GPA and plan on attending college to major in Criminal Justice. So far, I have been accepted to five colleges! I want to thank God first, as well as my family and my supporters.

MEET DANIEL

At seventeen years old, Daniel’s focus shifted abruptly from achieving his dream of becoming a firefighter to fighting a complex cancer diagnosis. It was a life-altering transition, moving him from his JROTC classes to a hospital room.

While his peers navigate the high school social scene, Daniel navigates oncology check-ups and chemotherapy treatments. This past December 2025, he underwent a major surgery—a Retroperitoneal Lymph Node Dissection (RPLND)—at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Despite the immense emotional and physical toll, Daniel remains optimistic, supported every step of the way by his mother. His journey has been difficult, yet his determination remains unshakable. His primary focus is returning to Del Oro High School to graduate with the Class of 2026 and continuing his path toward becoming a firefighter to protect and serve his community.

MEET JOSCELYN

Joscleyn was a healthy six-year-old when she was diagnosed with pre-B cell leukemia just two weeks before her seventh birthday in July 2024. Despite the many obstacles that came with her diagnosis, Joscleyn has continued to push through every challenge with a beautiful smile. She loves to dance, and it has become her way of coping with her illness and expressing joy through it all. We are grateful that she is still in treatment, and by the grace of God, we look forward to the day she rings the bell in November 2026—a moment that will be filled with hope, strength, and celebration.
