Peter Boyd scores in fourth straight game as Condors lose to Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Bakersfield Condors (12-29-2-2, 28pts) struck in the first minute of the first period, but surrendered the game’s final five goals and fell 5-1 to the Toledo Walleye (22-17-0-4, 48) at the Huntington Center on Saturday night.
It took just 52 seconds for Bakersfield to gain a 1-0 lead, as C Peter Boyd backhanded a shot from the slot just through the pads of Walleye G Kent Simpson on the game’s first shot. Toledo answered on a rebound to tie the game at 1-1 as F Doug Clarkson scooped home a loose rebound 5:08 into the frame. D Cody Lampl gave the Walleye a lead at the break, 2-1, finishing off a three-on-two past Condors G Brian Stewart at 18:32. Neither team had a power play or penalty in the period as Toledo outshot the Condors, 16-12.

Toledo fired the lone goal of the second period on the power play as F Trevor Parkes dove into the crease and swiped a loose rebound past Stewart at 11:54 to give the Walleye a 3-1 lead. The Condors had three odd-man rushes on Simpson, but came up empty handed. Bakersfield was outshot, 12-8.

Two goals from C Joey Martin, 41 seconds apart in the third period after C Nichols Tremblay hit the post, pushed the Walleye to a 5-1 victory over Bakersfield. Shots were even at 10-10.
