GAME DAY PREVIEW PRESENTED BY RODRIGUEZ & ASSOCIATES

The Bakersfield Condors head to Calgary for the first of two against the Wranglers. Bakersfield was 5-1-2 against Calgary a season ago.

LOOKING BACK

A split was earned on Sunday as the Condors beat Henderson 3-1. Aku Raty’s goal with five minutes left in the third period was the game winner as Matt Tomkins shut the door with 26 saves for his first win of the season.

FIRST AS A CONDOR

Raty’s goal was his first as a Condor after being signed by Edmonton during the offseason. He scored 20 in 51 games with Karpat (Finland) last season. With Tucson in 2023-24, the Oulu, Finland native scored 15 goals and had 44 points in 55 games.

HUTTY HEATING UP

Quinn Hutson has wasted no time re-establishing himself as a premier winger in his sophomore AHL campaign. Last season’s AHL rookie goal scoring leader scored two power-play goals over the weekend and is tied for the team lead with three points.

DOT DOMINANCE

Tucker Robertson, who added insurance with an empty-net goal on Sunday, also went 16 of 19 in the face-off circle. Signed to an AHL deal in the offseason, the Toronto native had 13 goals with Lehigh Valley a season ago.

WAITING GAME

Five of the six goals the Condors scored last weekend came in the third period.

BIG WEEKEND FOR THE BIG MAN

Josh Brown had three assists in two games, was +3, and had a fighting major. He is tied for second among AHL d-man through the opening weekend in assists.

BERTA BOYS

Both Condors netminders hail from the province of Alberta. Tomkins is from Edmonton while Connor Ungar grew up minutes from the Saddledome in Calgary.

CHECKING IN ON CALGARY

The Wranglers scored eight goals in a sweep of the Canucks at home last weekend. Seventh round pick Axel Hurtig scored twice. Earlier this week Connor Zary and Brayden Pachal were both reassigned to the Wranglers. Zary had 25 goals in the NHL over the last two seasons. Pachal has not played in the AHL since the 2022-23 season with Henderson.
