The Bakersfield Condors (3-5-0, 6pts) were tricked in a 5-1 defeat to the division-leading Abbotsford Canucks (7-2-1, 15pts) on Friday. It was the Canucks seventh straight win.

Abbotsford dominated the first period, scoring three goals and only allowing one shot against.

Rhett Pitlick thought he gave the Condors their first goal of the game in the second frame, but Abbotsford successfully challenge for offside and the goal was waived off. The Canucks would then score twice in the second and made it 5-0 after 40 minutes.

James Stefan (1st) scored in the opening minute of the third period to finally break through for the Condors. The third-year forward was making his season debut. The game finished 5-1.

Connor Ungar remained out injured. Beau Akey (injured) and Aku Raty (illness) missed their first games of the season.
