GAME RECAP: DAY WINS DEBUT AS CONDORS SPLIT WITH COLORADO, 4-1
The Bakersfield Condors (3-4-0, 6pts) rebounded with a 4-1 victory over the Colorado Eagles (5-2-1, 11pts) on Saturday in Loveland. Aku Raty scored twice and Nathan Day stopped 28 for his first AHL win in his first AHL start.
Raty (4th) went hard to the front of the net to give the Condors a 1-0 lead at 7:57 of the first. The goal was challenged unsuccessfully by Colorado for offside, the first such challenge in the Condors AHL era. Bakersfield would get a power play as a result but was unsuccessful on three chances in the period.
Colorado tied it with a shorthanded goal in the second off a two-on-one break. Tucker Robertson (3rd) scored his second shorthanded goal of the season minutes later to regain a 2-1 lead. Seth Griffith (1st) extended the lead to 3-1 on a two-on-one rush, snapping one under the bar.
Raty (5th) scored his second of the night on a partial break to make it a 4-1 game with just over six minutes left in regulation.
Raty extended his point streak to six games (5g-3a). Samuel Sjolund had two assists, his first AHL points.
Earlier in the day Samuel Jonsson was recalled to Bakersfield and backed up Day with Connor Ungar out injured.
