The Bakersfield Condors wrap up their three-game series against the Idaho Steelheads tonight. The two clubs split the previous meetings on the weekend, with the Condors taking a 4-3 overtime victory on Thursday, and Idaho holding on for a 4-3 win last night. This is the vs idahofourth and final meeting between the teams here in Bakersfield this season, with a three-game series in Idaho in March filling out the remainder of the head-to-head schedule.
The Condors nearly put together a second straight three-goal rally against Idaho, but fell 4-3 in regulation. The Steelheads held a 4-1 lead after two periods – with all five goals coming in the middle frame – and Bakersfield scored twice in the third to make it close. But G Jimmy Spratt held them at bay, making 38 saves en route to his fourth win of the season. LW Matt Marquardt scored twice on the night for Bakersfield in the losing effort.

The Condors roster features the two highest scoring rookies in the ECHL with C Mathew Sisca and RW Scott Freeman. Freeman’s 18 points (9g, 9a) lead the entire league, while Sisca’s 13 points (4g, 9a) are second among first-year players. The duo are tied for the rookie lead in assists as well, while Freeman also leads all rookies in goals. They are also 1st (Freeman) and 3rd (Sisca) in shots, and tied for second with a +8 plus/minus rating.
RW Scott Freeman and D Alain Goulet both left Friday night’s contest with injuries and are questionable for tonight… Freeman was held off the scoresheet for just the second time all season. He remains the league’s leading scorer with 18 points through 13 games… C Thomas Frazee became the sixth Condor this season to record his first professional goal, scoring in the second period… G Matt Keetley’s scoreless performance in relief last night moved him back in the top 10 in the ECHL for goals against average, at 2.39.
Idaho Head Coach Hardy Sauter is in his second season behind the bench for the Steelheads… G Jimmy Spratt is 10th in the league in GAA (2.40) and sixth in save percentage (.930)… only two defensemen in the league have more penalty minutes than Idaho’s Chris Hepp (38)… the Steelheads’ penalty kill is tied for 3rd in the ECHL at 85.7%… F Kael Mouillierat (2g-3a) and F David Fredriksson (1g-4a) lead Idaho in scoring against Bakersfield.
D Matt Campanale traded to Elmira for future
considerations (11/11)
D Dan Lawson activated off 21-IR (11/10)
F Kevin Lohry released (11/10)
F Parker Stanfield added to 3-IR (11/10)
