Broda called up to Bridgeport

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors, owned by the Edmonton Oilers, announced today that the team’s leading scorer and captain C Joel Broda has been loaned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League (AHL). Bridgeport is the AHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders.

  • 24 years old from Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada
  • Started season in the AHL with Oklahoma City, playing eight games with one goal and one assist
  • In 35 games with the Condors this season, he leads the team in goals (19) and points (35) to go along with 16 assists and a plus-4 (+4) rating
  • Named the ECHL’s Player of the Week for Jan. 13-19 after he notched seven points (4g-3a) in a 3-0-1 week for Bakersfield
  • Has tallied 40 points (22g-18a) in 132 career AHL games with Houston and Oklahoma City.
  • A fifth-round selection (144th overall) of the Washington Capitals in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft
