Condors Acquire Dee and Kushneriuk in Two Separate Trades

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors have made two separate trades which bring two forwards to Bakersfield. The Condors acquired F Robby Dee from the Florida Everblades in exchange for D Jimmy Martin and dealt D Adam Ross to the Wheeling Nailers for F Chris Kushneriuk (kush-NAIR-ik). Both are expected in Bakersfield this weekend when the Condors host the Alaska Aces.

“We had an opportunity to pick up a couple guys that we felt gave us a chance to improve what we have up front. Kushneriuk is a high energy guy; he has one gear. He makes things happen because of his work ethic and he’s going to jump start our forwards,” said Condors Head Coach Matt O’Dette. “Robby is a much needed center that we’ve coveted for a while. He’s a guy we were on in the summertime and he’s been on our radar. He’s a skilled player that can skate and play in all situations.”

In the first move of the day, the Condors picked up a center in Dee who was selected in the 3rd round (#86 overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers. The 6’1″, 183 lb. native of Plymouth, Minn. played in 17 games with the Everblades this season tallying five goals and three assists for eight points. Now in his rookie season, Dee spent the last four seasons at the University of Maine where he recorded 33 goals and 41 assists for 74 points in 126 games played. His broke out his senior season amassing 35 points (13g, 22a) in 36 games played for the Black Bears.

In return, the Everblades receive D Jimmy Martin who recorded eight points (2g, 6a) in 19 games played with the Condors.

In the second transaction, the Condors acquire the Ottawa, ONnative Kushneriuk from Wheeling. The RW scored one goal and added one assist for two points in 14 games played this season with the Nailers. Upon graduation last season from Robert Morris University, Kushneriuk played in 8 games with the Nailers and tallied seven points (3g, 4a). He played 15 games in the ECHL playoffs as well and recorded nine points (3g, 6a). The 24-year old played three seasons at Robert Morris with 68 points (27g, 41a) in 98 games played. He was a member of the 2007-08 Wayne State University team which disbanded following the season prior to transferring to Robert Morris.

Wheeling receives Ross from the Condors in return. The rookie defenseman played 13 games for Bakersfield, recording 33 penalty minutes.
