Condors announce changes are coming behind the Condors bench in 2013-14

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Today the Bakersfield Condors announced that Head Coach Matt O’Dette will not return behind the Condors bench for the 2013-14 season.

An official announcement will take place on Tuesday, Apr. 2 from 3 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. in the Club Room at Rabobank Arena. The event is open only to the media, and will include an opportunity to interview both Condors President Matthew Riley and O’Dette.

“We are in a results-based business, and this is a decision that is purely an issue of wins and losses,” said Riley. “This is in no way a judgment of the work and dedication that Coach O’Dette has shown to this organization for the past two seasons. I personally have a great deal of respect for ‘Odie,’ and have no doubt that he will find success beyond his time with the Condors.”

The Condors finished their 15th anniversary season Saturday night. In O’Dette’s two seasons at the helm, the Condors amassed a record of 46-85-6-7 (.358). It is the first time the Condors have failed to qualify for the playoffs in consecutive seasons.

O’Dette was hired as the 4th head coach in Condors history on July 12, 2011. Prior to joining the Condors he spent two seasons as an assistant coach in the ECHL with the Stockton Thunder.

The search for the Condors 5th bench boss will commence immediately, although no specific timetable has been set for filling the position.

There will be no further additional comment until Tuesday’s event. For additional information, contact Kevin Bartl at the Condors office at 324-PUCK (7825).
