Condors stay hot, trounce Idaho 6-2

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. Newly reassigned C Pete Zingoni tallied two goals and three assists to lead the Bakersfield Condors (18-14-1-0, 37pts) to a 6-2 victory over the Idaho Steelheads (14-15-2-5, 35pts) in front of 5,511 fans at Rabobank Arena on Friday night.

Bakersfield needed just 1:06 to gain a lead over the Idaho Steelheads. F Bobby Robins powered the puck out of the left corner, Game reportdrove through the slot, and wristed a shot into the back of the net. Zingoni, recently reassigned from Houston to Bakersfield, netted his second goal for the Condors to put Bakersfield up 2-0 with over 15 minutes still left in the opening frame. Robins electrified the crowd once again with a toe-to-toe bout against D Steve Oleksy at 6:00 of the period. The Condors held their 2-0 lead going into the first intermission.

The Condors rocketed out of the gate in the second period, as F Andrew Ianiero knocked in a rebound after a breakaway attempt by Zingoni. LW J.D. Corbin increased the lead to 4-0 3:57 into the middle stanza. G Jase Weslosky replaced G Mike Zacharias in the Idaho net following the goal. The change spurred the Steelheads to two quick goals, as C Matt Tassone finished off a power play with a rebound goal, and LW Evan Barlow netted his second of the season. Zingoni seized back the momentum for the Condors with his second of the night at 16:15.

Ianiero capped off the scoring with his second of the game and 10th of the season, finishing a nice give and go with Zingoni at 8:17. The assist was the fifth point of the night for the Minnesota-assigned forward. Tordjman finished the night with 20 saves, picking up his 13th win of the season. Bakersfield improved to 10-1-0 in their last 11 games with the triumph.
