Condors take down the Thunder, 4-1

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. The Bakersfield Condors (28-24-2-1, 59pts) used a four-goal second period to down the Stockton Thunder (27-18-4-5, 63pts) 4-1 in front of 5,534 fans at Rabobank Arena Friday night.

Bakersfield fell behind at 11:27 of the first when a turnover led to a shot from the top of the slot. LW Garet Hunt was all alone in front of Lizon fightingthe net to flip a rebound over a sprawled G Brian Stewart to give Stockton a 1-0 lead. Two fights broke out in the first five minutes of the game, with RW Erick Lizon and RW Bobby Robins both dropping the mitts for the Condors against willing Thunder opponents.

The second stanza was all Condors, as they erupted for four unanswered tallies on G Zane Kalemba. C Joel Broda tied the game up with his 12th at 6:10. Then RW Bobby Robins slipped home his ninth at 13:15 and C Adam Naglich scored on a breakaway during 4-on-4 play at 14:13 to make it 3-1. Broda added his second of the period at 18:06, shorthanded, burying a centering feed from F Jean-Marc Beaudoin to take a 4-1 advantage into the dressing room.

Neither team got on the board in the final period, although each team had power play chances when the penalties piled up. Stewart picked up the win, his sixth straight victory, while stopping 25 shots. The Condors remained perfect at home against the Thunder (5-0-0-0) on the season.
