Tonight’s match up:
The Condors wrap up a three-game series with the Steelheads this week with their match tonight, also the final meeting of the season between the two clubs. The Condors 6-2-1 record against Idaho on the year marks the first time since the 2005-06 campaign that Bakersfield has claimed the season series. The Condors recent 9-2-0 surge in their last 11 games has thrust them into the hunt for home ice advantage in the opening round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs, and they have gone from 6th place in the Western Conference to just one point behind Idaho for 3rd, and a chance to pass them tonight. The Condors officially clinched a playoff spot last night.
The Condors improved to 10-0-0 at home on Friday nights this season with the win last night… RW Stephane Goulet had two assists last night to reach 200 in his pro career. Of that total, 119 of them have come with the Condors, passing Mark Derlago for 29th in Condors history… RW Erick Lizon is 4th in the ECHL with 173 PIM. He has 377 career PIMs with the Condors and needs nine more to pass Jason Ralph for 6th in Condors history… F Andrew Ianiero tallied the game winner last night and now ranks 4th in Condors history with 11 game-winning goals. Paul Rosebush owns the record (20)… G Brian Stewart’s 2.55 goals against average is the lowest for a Condors rookie since Yutaka Fukufuji in 2004-05 (2.48).
RW Stephane Goulet was placed on the 3-day IR today. He is eligible to be activated on Mar. 15… The rights to LW Brad Snetsinger were traded to Florida for the rights to C Francis Lemieux on Mar. 11. Both players are currently in the AHL… G Jim Watt was signed yesterday… G Manny Martinez was added as an Emergency Back-Up Goaltender on Tuesday and was released on Wednesday… C Joel Broda, RW Pascal Morency, and G Josh Tordjman all remain in the AHL with Houston after being recalled last week.
