Condors Weekly: Perfect 3-0 week for Bakersfield

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors rolled to three consecutive victories last week, including a sweep of a home-and-home series with the first-place Las Vegas Wranglers. Bakersfield is 13-32-4-1 on the season with 31 points in the standings.

The Condors shutout the Grizzlies for the second straight time, this time with G Matt Keetley turning aside 29 shots. F Parker Stanfield had 2g-1a and F Evan Trupp had a “Gordie Howe Hat Trick” (one goal, one assist, one fight) to lead the way offensively. Bakersfield scored three times in the first eight minutes of the game to jump out to the quick lead.

Friday, Feb. 10
Condors 2 vs. LAS VEGAS 1
After falling behind 1-0 in the early minutes Friday night, F Parker Stanfield and LW Peter Boyd responded to give the Condors the lead in the first period. G Matt Keetley made it stand up, making 28 saves, including several key ones late in the game, for Bakersfield’s third straight road victory.

Bakersfield came from behind three times and eventually prevailed in the shootout, to complete a weekend sweep of the Wranglers. F Parker Stanfield scored for the third straight game, and LW Evan Trupp (pictured) had two goals, including a memorable highlight reel tally to force overtime. G Matt Keetley made 41 saves and stopped four of five Vegas shooters in the shootout for the win.

PLAYER AND TEAM NOTES:

  • F Parker Stanfield has a four-game point streak, with 3g-4a-7pts during the stretch. He scored a goal in all three games last week.
  • The line of F Evan Trupp – F Parker Stanfield – F Chris Kushneriuk combined for 3g-5a-8pts and two fights in Wednesday’s win. It was their first game together as a line.
  • F Robby Dee scored his fourth shorthanded goal of the season Wednesday. He is tied for 2nd in the ECHL, and now tied with F Scott Freeman for the team lead.
  • The Condors have won three straight road games and three in a row overall.
  • F Evan Trupp’s memorable goal Saturday night has garnered over 20,000 views online and earned a story on Yahoo! Sunday.
  • The Condors season series against Utah shifts to Bakersfield for the final five meetings. The Grizzlies will come to Condorstown five times in 33 days, starting Feb. 28.
  • G Matt Keetley has made 40 or more saves three times this season.

The Condors head to Alaska for a three-game weekend this week, with Friday and Saturday’s game slated for an 8:15 p.m. face off, and Sunday’s match at 6:05 p.m. (Pacific).

 

The team returns home for two games against the Stockton Thunder the following weekend. On Friday, the first 2,000 fans 5 and older will get a Hans Benson Bobble-fist doll, sponsored by KBAK Eyewitness News and Three-Way Automotive Group.
