Condors win streak reaches 10!

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. The Bakersfield Condors (39-25-2-1, 81pts) ran their win streak to ten games with a 3-1 victory over the Las Vegas Wranglers (36-26-3-2, 77pts) in front of 6,556 fans at Rabobank Arena Friday night. The Condors maintain their position at the top of the Pacific Division, and second in the Western Conference.

It took nearly the entire first period for the first goal to be knocked home, when D Tyler Gotto put the Condors up 1-0. While on the power play, RW Stephane Goulet fired a pass across the crease to Gouletfind Gotto sneaking in from the point. The goal was scored with just 33 seconds left in the period.

Las Vegas evened the scoring early in the second period. C Colin Long found a rebound on top of the goal crease and snapped it in to even the score at 1-1 with 17:56 left in the middle frame. The Condors appeared to push back in front with mere seconds remaining on the clock, but RW Bobby Robins shot rang off the post, keeping the score at 1-1. Shots were 29-22 in favor of Bakersfield through 40 minutes of play.

C Joel Broda put the Condors up for good when he smacked home his 17th goal, on the power play, 4:31 into the final period. It was the second man advantage marker of the evening for the Condors, and served as the eventual game winner. RW Stephane Goulet added some insurance with less than three minutes to play, banging in a pass from C Adam Naglich on a 2-on-1 to make it 3-1. Stewart did the rest, stopping nine shots in the third and 31 shots on the night for his record-tying ninth straight victory.
