GAME DAY PREVIEW: Condors @ Barracuda, 3 p.m.
GAME DAY PREVIEW PRESENTED BY RODRIGUEZ & ASSOCIATES
The Bakersfield Condors (3-5-0, 6pts) play their seventh road game of the season on a Sunday matinee against the San Jose Barracuda (3-6-0, 6pts) at 3 p.m.
LOOKING BACK
In the most lopsided decision of the season, the Condors fell 5-1 to the Abbotsford Canucks on Friday. James Stefan scored the Condors lone goal.
SHARING THE CREASE
Samuel Jonsson is expected to get his first AHL start today after coming on in relief for the third period on Friday. Jonsson becomes the fourth Condors goaltender to start in nine games this season. Last year, the Condors used just three netminders. Jonsson was named to the ECHL All-Star Classic with Fort Wayne in 2025-26.
CHALLENGING
Abbotsford successfully challenged the Condors first goal of the night on Friday for offside. It was the second time this season a team has challenged for offside, and the first successfully. The coach’s challenge is new this season for the AHL.
STEF SCORES IN DEBUT
Stefan scored on Friday in his season debut after suffering a season-ending injury with Fort Wayne a year ago. With the Komets, the SoCal native had 17 goals in 34 games.
INJURIES MOUNTING
Aku Raty will remain out of the lineup today with illness. Damien Carfagna, who missed most of Friday’s loss, will also come out of the lineup with injury. John Gormley is expected to make his Condors debut against his former club.
SLOW STARTS
Through eight games, the Condors have scored just four first period goals. On the flip side, the team has outscored teams 11-6 in third periods.
MAJICIAN’S FAVORITE MATCHUP
Viljami Marjala was excellent against the Barracuda a season ago, notching 11 points (2g-9a) in eight games. Four of the games were multi-point efforts.
SAN JOSE SERIES
The Barracuda are allowing a league worst 4.56 goals against a game. Andre Gasseau has five goals in nine games. Today is already the Barracuda’s eighth home game, who have two more in San Jose against the Condors next weekend.
