LAST TIME OUT
Bakersfield started 2023 with a 3-2 win Wednesday against Ontario. Raphael Lavoie scored twice and Calvin Pickard stopped 46 shots in his return to the lineup. Calgary split a pair of games with Abbotsford during the midweek.
ROAD LIFE
The Condors have just seven home games between now and March 3. The team will play 15 of its next 22 games on the road before a seven-game homestand in March. Bakersfield will play 14 home games in the final eight weeks of the season.
WELCOME BACK CAL
Calvin Pickard stopped 46 shots in his return to the lineup on Wednesday and when he dresses, the Condors are 8-3-1 on the season. Pickard’s output matched his season high from a year ago and were the second most saves he’s recorded in one AHL game.
BAILEY INKS NEW DEAL
Justin Bailey signed an NHL deal with the Edmonton Oilers yesterday. He assisted on both of Lavoie’s goals on Wednesday and has five points (0g-5a) over his last four games.
MR. 100
Brad Malone had two assists on Wednesday and has six assists in his last six games. He is the third Condors AHL player to reach 100 assists, joining Tyler Benson and Cooper Marody.
HOMECOMING
Noah Philp (Canmore, Alberta) and Carter Savoie (St. Albert, Alberta) will play in their home province this week. Dino Kambeitz played his junior hockey with the Lethbridge (Alberta) Hurricanes as well.
ON THE OTHER SIDE
Dating back to last season’s Calder Cup Playoffs second round series, Calgary’s AHL team has beaten Bakersfield seven straight, including all four matchups this season.
