The Bakersfield Condors and San Jose Barracuda open up their 10-game season series. It is the season opener for San Jose and game two for Bakersfield who opened the regular season with a 5-3 win last night against Abbotsford.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
Bakersfield rallied early in the third period to take a season-opening 5-3 win last night. C Adam Cracknell scored twice and linemante RW Seth Griffith had three assists.

A YEAR AGO
Bakersfield went 7-3-0 against San Jose last season. The Condors are 12-6-0 against the Barracuda in their last 18 games on home ice.

GRIFFITH PICKS UP WHERE HE LEFT OFF
After starting last season with one goal in seven games, RW Seth Griffith finished the season with 27 points (9g-18a) in the final 32 games. He went on to record another seven points (3g-4a) in six playoff games and last night, opened the campaign with three assists.

CAPTAINCY
Brad Malone will serve as Condors captain for the second season. Alternates include Adam Cracknell, Seth Griffith, and Luke Esposito.

PENALTY KILLED
The Condors penalty kill started a perfect 2/2 last night. Last season, the team allowed just five power play goals in over 50 opportunities on home ice and had the best penalty kill in the AHL.

CONDORS NOTES
Yanni Kaldis scored his first AHL goal last night… James Hamblin, who led all Condors rookies in goals last year, scored the opening goal of the season… Both Philip Broberg and Filip Berglund had assists in their Condors debuts… Brad Malone dropped the gloves for the team’s first fighting major of the season.

BARRACUDA NOTES
San Jose is led behind the bench by Roy Sommer, in his 24th season as head coach of San Jose’s top AHL affiliate… Noah Gregor, Dylan Gambrell, and John Leonard each logged over 30 games with the San Jose Sharks last season in the NHL… Joachim Blichfeld had 22 points (12g-10a) in 25 games with the Barracuda last season… Joel Kellman had 13 assists in 18 games with San Jose in 2020-21.
