GAME PREVIEW: CONDORS V TUCSON

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. –  The Bakersfield Condors host Teddy Bear Toss tonight at 7 p.m. A capacity crowd is expected with the Condors front office opening at 10 a.m. and the Rabobank Arena box office open at noon. You can purchase online here. Bring two teddy bears to the game and throw them on the ice after the Condors first goal which will be collected and donated to the United Way of Kern County.
PROMOTION DETAILS: Over 121,000 stuffed animals have been thrown in the event’s 19-year history. Attendance has averaged over 8,100 all-time. Presented by Eyewitness News, KERN 1180 AM, and Three-Way Chevrolet. The annual Bakersfield Christmas Tree lighting will take place on the plaza pre-game.

TONIGHT
The Bakersfield Condors finish off the weekend against the Tucson Roadrunners. It is the second of eight season matchups between the two teams after the Roadrunners earned a 2-1 victory in Bakersfield back on October 13.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
Bakersfield won for the sixth time in eight games last night, 4-2, in Ontario. After trailing 1-0 in the first intermission, RW Cameron Hebig tied it up midway through the second to make it 1-1 after two periods. RW Jesse Puljujarvi put the Condors ahead for good early in the third. LW Evan Polei had two assists while G Al Montoya stopped 28 shots in the win.

Tucson split a pair on home ice against the Stockton Heat before Thanksgiving. After dropping the opener, 8-2, the Roadrunners rallied for a 3-2 win on Wednesday. RW Conor Garland had a pair of goals in the victory.

SHOOT FIRST MENTALITY
Through 15 games, the Condors have outshot opponents on 12 occasions. Only once this season has the team been outshot.

HEBIG TAKES OVER SCORING LEAD
With two goals last night in Ontario, rookie RW Cameron Hebig took over the team’s scoring lead with 15 points (9g-6a) in 15 games. He is now fourth in the AHL in rookie scoring. Teammate LW Tyler Benson is t-7th in rookie scoring with 14 points (3g-11a) in 15 games.

MARODY MAKES HIS WAY BACK
C Cooper Marody was reassigned to the Condors last night after playing six games with the Edmonton Oilers. The Brighton, Michigan native rides a four-game point streak into tonight’s action with eight points (3g-5a) over that stretch. On the season, he has 10 points (3g-7a) in seven games and has only been held pointless in one game this season.

G Al Montoya’s 28-save performance was the most by a Condors goaltender this season… C Josh Currie had a goal and assist last night and now has 10 points (5g-5a) in 15 games this season… D Logan Day has three assists in his last four games… D Ethan Bear and C Tyler Vesel have assists in two straight… RW Cameron Hebig scored two goals in a game for the first time in his pro career last night.

ROADRUNNERS NOTES
The Roadrunners are led by first year head coach Jay Varady… RW Conor Garland is second in the AHL with four game-winning goals… Tucson is 7-0-0-1 when leading after two periods… They are 6-1-0-1 in one-goal games… The power play was 2/2 on Wednesday, breaking up a three-game PPG scoring drought.
