HOLTY’S BLOG: A DECENT BLOG ABOUT THE GREAT ONE

Is this a great blog? No, but it will have some great things in it. Tip of Holty’s cap to friend of the blog @Joe_Babik for the great ideas for The Great One puns the other day.

You may want me to come up with my own puns, but as I’ll remind you, it’s my blog and I’ll do what I want. Let’s be honest, I’m not that creative.

Now for the blog…

Wayne Gretzky (yes that one) and Luc Robitaille are coming to Bakersfield for the NHL Alumni – Celebrity Game on Friday, January 6. A ticket to the Three-Way Chevrolet Condorstown Outdoor Classic pres. by Mission Bank on January 7 is your ticket to the NHL Alumni Game. More names and players will be announced in the coming weeks.

Thanks to Kevin Lowe, Michael Altieri (LA Kings Communications), and of course Gretzky and Robitaille for helping us make the announcement the other day.

$69. That’s all it takes to get the best deal in Condorstown. You’ll get a ticket to the Condros-Reign game on the 7th, the Alumni game on the 6th, ANY other regular season game of your choosing this year, a Winterfest pass, and a knit cap. That’s insane. It’s the Holiday Outdoor Fun Pack. They’re flying off the fictitious shelves.

Holty, what is Winterfest? Winterfest is the daily attractions such as public skating, obstacle courses, inflatable bounce houses, and the zip line. It’s $20 daily and the zip-line is a $10 charge. You can buy a $50 pass and get unlimited all day zip line.

More often than not the Winterfest will be open 4-9 p.m. daily (noon – 9 p.m. on the weekends) and will feature local radio stations and fun. Parents do not need to purchase a pass to come out to the stadium if they’re not participating and just want to watch their kids have fun. We’ll have a daily schedule soon.

The Condors jerseys for the Outdoor Classic were unveiled. They’re old school and they will look great under the big lights.

Taylor Beck was named CCM / AHL Player of the Month earlier today. Well deserved. He’s been the most consistent player for the Condors.

Charlotte is in town tomorrow night. It’s the first time Charlotte and Bakersfield have played since December of 2003 when the Checkers swept the Condors in ECHL action.

Also marks the return of Andrew Miller, who scored the first goal in Condors AHL history. He has seven points in 14 games with the Checkers this year.

I think the offense is ready to explode. The team has had way too many chances the past few games to not have a better goals per game. Bright side, the D continues to be stellar. Both goalies are Top-15 in save percentage and the team is 9th in goals against per game at 2.73.

LOCK OF THE WEEK? Let’s parlay some NFL action huh? Straight up, OAKLAND, MIAMI DETROIT, TAMPA BAY …. $10 would get you $311. Just saying. All fictitious of course.

Until next time Condorstown…

Ryan Holt a.k.a. Holty is in his 6th season as Voice of the Condors. He was a Sophomore in High School the last time Charlotte was in Bakersfield. Kevin Bartl was in his 3rd year in Condorstown at that time. He’s old. Follow him on Twitter @CondorsHolty for more nonsense or shoot him an e-mail with questions, comments, or blog ideas to rholt@bakersfieldcondors.com
