Reign pin down Condors, 6-0

ONTARIO, Calif. – The Ontario Reign (16-12-1-2, 35pts) scored four times in the third period to turn a close game into a blowout, with a 6-0 victory over the Bakersfield Condors (8-23-3-0, 19pts) at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Tuesday night.
D Pat Bowen scored his first goal of the season with a high point shot at the 5:36 mark of the first period to give Ontario a 1-0 lead. Condors D Tyson Gimblett fought Reign F Derek Couture, 14:23 into the period, after both had been put into the penalty boxes for roughing at 12:15. Shots were even, 9-9.
Ontario extended their lead to 2-0 when F C.J. Stretch banged home a loose rebound off a C Kevin Estrada shot, 12:07 into the second period. The score stayed that way as the Reign controlled the shot totals, 12-3.
The Reign blew the game wide open in the third period, scoring twice in the first two minutes and four times in the frame. In the meantime, the Condors could mount no attack to rally, and managed only three shots in the third. G Jean-Francois Berube picked up the shutout in net for Ontario.

Tonight’s game was the only one in the ECHL…The teams will meet three more times this season… F Tyler Helfrich had a five-game point streak (2g-6a) snapped, as did linemate C Robby Dee (1g-5a), while LW Matt Marquardt lost his four-game point streak (3g-1a)… Shots on goal: BAK- 15, ONT – 36… PP: BAK 0/1, ONT 1/7.

Spider-Man and Flip Cams on Friday and Saturday

Spider-Man brings his superhero powers to Condorstown as the Condors host the Thunder on Friday night at 7 p.m. He’ll pose for pictures in the Condors photo booth and will greet fans around the arena. The game is sponsored by MY 45 and La Campesina 92.5 FM. It’s also a Bright House Networks and Wells Fargo Kids Club Night where members will receive free lower level admission to the game.

On Saturday, the Condors take on Stockton at 7 p.m. and 50 lucky fans will take home a Condors customized Flip Cam courtesy of Bright House Networks and 106.1 KRAB Radio. The video recorders feature images of Condors players, past and present.
