Steelheads double up the Condors, 4-2

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Idaho Steelheads (5-7-1-1, 12pts) skated out to a 4-0 lead and held on to beat the Bakersfield Condors (5-8-1-0, 11pts) 4-2 in front of 5,611 fans at Rabobank Arena Saturday night.

Highlights from tonight’s game on CondorsTV

Despite a heavy advantage in shots in the first period, Bakersfield surrendered the first goal. F Chad Nehring redirected a centering feed past G Matt Keetley for the 1-0 advantage. Shots were 14-7 Condors in the first.

Idaho blew the game wide open in the middle frame. They scored three times in the span of 2:17 to make it 4-0 before the game was half over. It was the third time in three games that the Condors spotted the Steelheads to a lead of at least three goals before getting on the board. Bakersfield did get on the board in the second, however, with LW Matt Marquardt and D Michael Gergen recording power play markers to cut into the lead.

Steelheads G Jerry Kuhn kept the Condors off the board in the third. He stopped 14 third period shots, and finished with 38 overall on the evening to pick up the win.
