Stewart loaned to Houston

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Matt O’Dette announced today that G Brian Stewart has been loaned to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, G Scott Greenham has returned from the St. John’s IceCaps (AHL) and will start tonight for the Condors as the team is in Las Vegas to take on the Wranglers.

“It’s nice to see our guys get rewarded for their play,” O’Dette said. “Stewy has been great for us, especially over the past couple months. We wish him all the best and we know he’ll do well.”

Stewart, 28, has been a bright spot for Bakersfield, especially inthe second half of the season. Since February 1st, the Burnaby, BC native is 7-9-0-1 with a 2.16 goals-against average (GAA) and an outstanding .943 save percentage. On 11 occasions this season, Stewart has stopped 40+ shots, including a 46-save shutout performance against Colorado on February 16th. It came a night after making an ECHL-high 52 saves en route to winning ECHL Goaltender of the Week honors, stopping an incredible 98 of 99 shots.

The 6’4″, 195 lbs. netminder has played 13 games at the AHL level with the Adirondack Phantoms. He holds a 5-7-0-0 record, 3.19 GAA and a .889 save percentage. On January 2, 2011 he was named the AHL Player of the Week going 3-0-0 for the Phantoms, stopping 93 of 98 shots for a 1.34 GAA and a .949 save percentage. 

The Condors begin the weekend TONIGHT against the Las Vegas Wranglers at Orleans Arena. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m. with Condors Countdown beginning at 6:50 p.m. Tune in via one of the many ways below.
