Condors earn spots in Best of Kern County awards

2011 Best of Kern County:

With nearly 7,000 votes, the Best of Kern 2011 winners have been announced in the Bakersfield Life magazine bestofkern

that was published on Saturday, May 28. The Bakersfield Condors were finalist on two lists for the Best of Kern County annual poll over the weekend. They were again honored as one of the top three “Family Attractions” as well as the “Best place to take a first date” categories. The Condors would like to thank everyone who voted!

Saturday, June 4
Colonel Claw’d and Baby Cal will be joining the Girl Scouts of America for their Japan Relief Fundraising event being held at Greenacres Park, located at 2014 Calloway Dr. from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Come out to support the Girl Scouts and their efforts in helping those in need from the Japan Earthquakes.

The Condors are once again proud to be nominated in the category of Large Humanitarian Group Effort for the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce Beautiful Bakersfield Award. The Condors’ community efforts throughout the season totaled more than $334,000 raised in cash and goods given to charities in Kern County. The awards ceremony will take place at the DoubleTree Hotel, beginning at 5 p.m. The event will be televised live on KGET-TV 17 and attended by Condors representatives hoping to take home a prestigious Crystal Camelia!

Summer Reading Program
The Condors are teaming up with the Kern County Libraries for the Summer Reading Program. Kids who read 10 or more books will be awarded a ticket to a Condors game next season. The program will run from June 6 to July 30. For more information on the program stop by one of the many Kern Library locations or visit  www.kerncountylibrary.org. Have the Condors at Your Event:
Even though the hockey season has concluded, thebabycalCondors will still be out in the community all throughout the off-season. If you’re interested in having any of our mascots, Colonel Claw’d, Baby Cal or Slapshot, the inflatable Slapshot Booth or the Condors prize wheel out to your camp, youth program, school or other event, contact the Condors. Condors staff are also available to speak at your service luncheons, such as Rotary Club, Lions Club, among others. Call 324-PUCK (7825) for availability or more information.

Office Closed:
The Condors front office will be closed from Monday, June 6 through Friday, June 10. The office will be back open on Monday, June 13 at 8:30 a.m.
