GAME RECAP: RATY EXTENDS STREAK IN CONDORS LOSS

The Bakersfield Condors (2-4-0, 4pts) lost the special teams battle and fell 4-1 to the Colorado Eagles (5-1-1, 11pts) on Friday in Loveland.

Colorado’s special teams played a big role in the first period as Jayson Megna scored a power play and shorthanded goal to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead after one, despite the Condors holding a 13-7 shot edge.

Domenick Fensore added to the Eagles cushion in the second off a point shot for a 3-0 lead in the second. Nathan Day made his AHL debut replacing Connor Ungar after the third goal of the game.

Aku Raty (3rd) extended his scoring streak to five games (3g-3a) with a 6-on-4 power play goal in the third period. The Condors went on to outshoot the Eagles 35-22 on the night, but Colorado took the opener 4-1. Day stopped all 10 shots he faced in half a game of work.

Earlier in the day Matt Tomkins was recalled by the Edmonton Oilers on an emergency basis.
