Condors commemorate Pacific Division Championship on Saturday for Opening Night

Bakersfield, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors, host of the 2010-11 ECHL All-Star Classic and ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, kick-off the regular season on the Mercy and Memorial Hospitals Home Ice at Rabobank Arena on Saturday against the Las Vegas Wranglers. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the puck drops at 7 p.m.

After a home-and-home preseason series against one another, the Condors and Wranglers both begin their regular season campaigns on Saturday. The Condors will be unveiling the 2009-10 Pacific Division Championship Banner in a ceremony before the drop of the puck. The first 3,000 fans 5 and older will receive a 3′ x 5′ replica banner of the one that will be hanging from the Rabobank Arena rafters.  The banners are courtesy of 29 Eyewitness News, Barber Honda, and Fox Sports Radio 970 AM, the new broadcast home of the Bakersfield Condors.

There will be plenty of excitement at Rabobank Arena on Saturday night, with the Ambassador of Cheer Cameron Hughes working the crowd into a frenzy throughout the game. Also before the drop of the puck, The Bakersfield Bullets, a local youth baseball organization, will be playing broomball on the ice. The National Anthem will then be performed by the Ridgeview High School Choir.

During the first intermission players from the Bakersfield Dragons mites and the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center in-house mites teams will take the ice for a scrimmage. There will also be a check presentation to the Bakersfield Bullets for their fundraising efforts in conjunction with the Condors, their efforts raised over $1,400 for their organization. To learn about fundraising with the Condors, call 324-PUCK (7825). The second intermission will feature a vehicle parade courtesy of Barber Honda, and of course the traditional Barber Honda and Bakersfield Californian Chuck-a-puck, with an opening jackpot of $100.
